Discover Bantaey Chhmar: A Cambodian Jewel

Getting there: Banteay Chhmar is located 165km north-west of Siem Reap in Banteay Meanchey province. The closest city is Sisophon. The CBT can organise your transfer by private taxi to Banteay Chhmar from Siem Reap or Sisophon. For onward travel, taxis can take you back to Siem Reap, Sisophon, or to Phnom Penh. test

Visiting the temple: Unlimited multi-day entrance to the temples of Banteay Chhmar costs US$7 per adult (free for children under 12). Tickets must be purchased when you arrive. 

Best times to visit: November to April are Cambodia’s dry months, and ideal for visiting Banteay Chhmar. The rainy season falls between May and October. If you’re planning to travel at this time of year, remember to bring a rain jacket and weather-proof shoes.

Volunteer for temple restoration: Make a difference in temple restoration! Volunteers are not allowed to join building efforts for safety reasons, but you can help the team by clean stones and remove debris from the restoration sites. Contact Sophal directly to enquire.
