A resort with a royal flair for conservation

Terrapuri Heritage Village is more than just a resort — it is a conservation and restoration project breathing new life into centuries-old Terengganu houses that otherwise would have been demolished or would have fallen into ruin. Saving the architecture means preserving the cultural motifs, history, folk tales and values behind it.

By booking a stay at Terrapuri, you promote heritage conservation and cultural stewardship of traditional Terengganu architecture. You also provide additional stable income for the local community.

Amid COVID-19, you can make advance bookings to help Terrapuri to continue its projects and keep its staff employed, and enjoy your stay when travel restrictions are lifted.

Or consider bringing a taste of Terengganu culture to your homes — shop local crafts and snacks via Terrapuri’s online stores on Shopee and Lazada (Malaysia only).

Getting There

Terrapuri is approximately 45 minutes’ drive from the Kuala Terengganu airport, Terrapuri is situated on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia at Kampung Mangkuk, Setiu, Terengganu.

There are daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Terengganu. Detailed directions can be found here.

Traveller's Notes

To stay true to the houses’ original architecture, some unique features have deliberately been retained. As such:

  • All the villas are only accessible by a steep, sloping staircase with high steps, and Terrapuri is not wheelchair- or elderly-friendly.
  • Floorboards and stairs creak when you step on them.
  • Although the villas are fitted with a 2.5hp air-conditioner, the interior may still be a little hot in the day because the ceiling is exposed to let guests better appreciate the unique architecture.

Staying beyond the weekend? Other than the Setiu day tours, Terrapuri can also help you organise sight-seeing to other parts of Terengganu, as well as in the nearby state of Kelantan. See details here.

Package prices fluctuate, with the monsoon season (November-February) offering the lowest rates.

Just passing by and curious to have a look-see? You can go for a tour of the premises for RM25 per person including snacks (minimum two pax).
